BOY GEORGE AND CULTURE CLUB
Studio, 1983
In the height of the New Wave Movement there was no one bigger, more flamboyant, or more symbolic of the times than these guys. Rolling into the studio mid afternoon in full regalia took the neighborhood by surprise. Putting the band members in my own teams softball uniforms with baseball bats and holding the Indians helmet made this a unique shoot. Expecting smarmy British assholes, I was surprised to find really down to earth people under the costumes. One funny story, I was playing a tape of oldies for the band and when it ran out I asked if anyone wanted to hear anything special. George asked if I had any musicals. I replied "West Side Story". George made a face and refused calling it " Too Violent." WOW!!!
